Possible to install cpu cooler on asrock n68 vs3 fx?

I've realized maybe this wasn't the best pairing, a asrock n68 vs3 fx and a amd fx 6300 but is it possible to mount a cpu cooler to this board? if not I feel i'm kinda screwed with options to replace the current stock cooling. The mount that surrounds the cpu doesn't look removable and obviously I'd rather know before taking action.

Yes, the retention bracket can be removed. But unlike bolts and nuts used on the higher-end boards, that one uses a type of push-pin arrangement. Below is a pic of the top two mounting pushpins for your board. They have small fingers that have to be forced together to allow the posts to slide back out towards the front of the board.
