In a month im gonna order the components of my first computer. But i have one question. Is gigabyte ga-78mlt-usb3 good for overklocking? I have amd fx-6300 with a cooler master hyper 212 evo and i dont have enought money to buy a better motherboard (if you have other suggestions maby i can pay a max of 20 dollars more). Sould i skip overclocking totally, pick another motherboard or go with the gigabyte ga-78mlt-usb3?

Solution
Its a solid little board for overclocking the 6300 mate - I've pushed 4.6ghz on one ,mdocod I believe pulled 4.8ghz on one stable.

Its a lot better board than the little asus in my SIG below & I've had no trouble pushing a fairly big oc .

Asus & gigabyte are pretty much the only 2 brands Id trust to use good quality MOSFETs even on a 4 phase board.

So i should overklock? And yes asus and gigabyte is the only good manufacturers that sells motherboards. If I wanna oc can i go with a coolermaster w500 to my fx-6300 and gtx 960 is that enought power?

Incredibly basic - old amibios so easy enough to understand though.
Voltage control isnt great but you should hit at least 4ghz on stock volts & that's plenty to push a gtx 960.

As shadowreaper says above the ds3p is a better board if you can afford it but mainly because its full size & has sata 3 ports - you won't hit any bigger over clocks on it though.

Bear in mind the board specs state Max 1333mhz ram but I can tell you 100% that you can use 1600mhz at full speed with no problems.
I would suggest 2x4gb sticks 1600mhz cl9 if you don't have ram already.

It will default to 1333 on first boot & you have to set speeds & latency manually in bios but if you need a hand with that pm me when you have the build done.

Didnt know that motherboard only supports 1333mhz ram. Yes im going to have 2x4 gb ram. On gigabytes website it says that you must update the bios to enable amd fx-6300 (my cpu). But can i then start the computer? That sounds illogical to me.

So i should change ram speed to 1600mhz?

If you haven't already bought ram then be sure to buy 1600mhz cl9 - it gives best performance/price ratio.

The board 100% supports the fx 6300 out of the box - you don't need to worry about a bios update.

What country are you in ??
I will point some decent ram out for you if you're not sure.

There are also a few cheaper options for coolers than the 212 that will do a decent job with the 6300 & will save you a few £/$

the wierd this is that even though raijintek are based in germany there are literally no swedish stockists of their stuff anywhere that I can find!!

I was going to suggest the raijintek adios as its a perfect cooler for a 6300 on a matx board & far far less work to fit than an evo or a themis which will pretty much swamp that little mb.the 212 evo looks to be the cheapesdt bang for buck buy over there from any local suppliers.

another decent option is the tx3 evo which at least is a little cheaper than the 212 (although not really as much as it should be)
