Need help on picking a GPU

My Laptop from 2010 finally died and I went back to a desktop. I wanted to buy something online but the laptop was all I had so I ended up at Best Buy. Which has a pathetic selection of desktops but still better than HH Greg. So this is a prebuilt PC. It's an ASUS M32BF_K30BF.

I would like to know what GPU I can install in it and what power supply I will need.

The specs for my system are

Windows 8.1 (which I don't like)

AMD A10 6700 3.70 Ghz

8 GB Ram

AMD Radeon HD 8670D (integrated)

Just to give a little more information that might help the games I would like to play are War Thunder, World of Tanks (which calls for a 2GB card), Fallout New Vegas, Grand Theft Auto 4 and possibly 5 if I can. I only have 1 monitor and that is all I plan to use. The Resolution is 1920x1080.

I would like to get an Nvidia card. But I don't know what card my system can handle. This is a new area for me. I have watched a few videos and I know I have to get a GPU that won't be bottlenecked by my CPU. I also know I will need a new power supply. Newegg seems a good lace to go but there is so many options it is overwhelming a bit.

That is why I came here looking for assistance. Also I do have a PCI EX 16 slot. But mine is yellow. The pics I have seen online they are blue.

***Edit***

Someone recommended a 270X. Would this be a choice. It says it is a 270X but it says it made by ASUS though the Chipset is AMD. If this is correct than how good are cards made by ASUS? Should I continue to shop around?

Also I found this one. Also a 270X

You need to upgrade your PSU first to something like 500W and get a GPU like 2x GTX 960s from EVGA that come oced. Then you can do some more OCing and get a beast.

In response to you hating 8.1, if it is because you like the windows 7 look you're in luck as windows 10 is coming and is free to upgrade and is the good of windows 8 and 7 merged.

Also your pci e slots may be yellow just for decoration. Check on internet before buying anything though just in case.

As nice as that sounds I think I will stick with only 1 Graphics card. I have to work with the space limitations of my case. I know I will need a new PSU.

Drop the 960s and get a 970 in that case. Powerful card in my opinion for its price.

the 960 crossfire is a terrible idea with your cpu, and the 970 will be held back as well.

The asus 270x is a AMD card with a asus cooler, some decent discounts at newegg right now.

I plan to upgrade to windows 10 anyway. But I really hope that's true because Windows 8.1 is pretty awful.

Yeah it's shame I don't have the money to upgrade right away.

ASUS make some of the best computer parts. Don't worry about their quality because they are amazing. The motherboards from ASUS are brilliant as are their STRIX GPUs.

I only said I would like to get a NVidia card, only because every time I start up a game it seems I get the splash screen that says "NVidia how its meant to be played". Also some people told me that NVidia cards were better. Other than that I can easily change my choice.

That's good because everything inside my desktop case is ASUS, even the motherboard. The only thing not ASUS on my table is the speakers which are Logitech brand.

Can I ask why you don't save up for a new build and are upgrading this? Just curious.

I didn't really want the hassle of building a whole computer. I used to build computers as a hobby years ago. But I just don't have the drive to do it anymore. Also technology kind of advanced past me. Basically I didn't want the hassle and stress. I was building computers back in my late teens and early and mid 20's. I am 30 now and just don't have the drive in me nor the want to be bothered with it. I figured I could get away with a simple GPU and PSU installation/upgrade.

I have a 270x and a 750ti in my computer. Don't ask. I just swap the cable from one card to another. I like nvidia better. they have more innovative technology: SLI before crossfire, Physx engine, g-sync monitors, geforce experience. Its a personal choice. For me i chose nvidia because they seemed more passionate than AMD who just whoop cards out.

I'm unsure why you would use the 750ti over the 270x considering the 270x outperforms the 750ti buy a good margin in almost all cases http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1043?vs=1130 . From what I can tell you need a high end nvidia gpu to use gameworks features and even then it causes slow downs in some games. Gsync vs freesync I would go freesync, and from games such as dying light and far cry 4 crossfire is working much better from what I'm reading on forums.

It comes down to personal preference and raw performance, just because a company pays for a splash screen does not necessarily make them a better option, I see lots of alienware splash screens but I sure would not run out and buy an alienware desktop.

Will any PSU work or do I have to get one with specific measurements for my case?
