Recently mounted a themis and was having a terrible time getting the anti vibration fan mounts to sit properly. The heat sink was mounted already, so I was tugging on it to remove them a few times and reseat them.

It got me wondering. How tough are these after market heat sinks? The mounting system seems to be like a tank the way it braces the heatsinks. Has anyone ever seen a torture test or really yanked on a heatsink tower that it bent or broke?

Yeah you're probably right. The mounting system is rather brilliant. All those metal brackets do make a very solid foundation. I just hate having to yank on something attached to a motherboard. I couldn't put the fan on before mounting everything, because it was rather hard to see and line up the heatsink over the cpu.

That mounting system is such a welcomed change from the old days of a plastic mount where you had to place 2 metal clips over some pathetic looking plastic pieces. I have no idea how those plastic pieces held as you struggled to crank down some heatsink.
