Hi I recently bought a key for GTA V from G2A and I have been going through the install process but now I can't go any further and the error on the window reads "Unable to initialize DirectX 9 device" I will attach some screenshots of what I mean, thanks to anyone who can help me.

Hello! I've got the same issue. It appeared just after the installation was completed and before the game started. So the game just won't start.

I'm running Windows 8.1 64-bit, DirectX 11. Looking at the specs, should work, but it doesn't.

Can you help?

Thanks!

RD

EDIT: I should add that this is a PC version bought through Amazon, and so it's on DVDs. It's not a downloaded version, but shouldn't make any difference I suppose

OK, an update:

I've now found a way to get beyond this by following a workaround found at http://gaming.stackexchange.com:

"The launcher is broken on laptops with graphics switching technologies, so until there's a patch or something, the launcher will crash every time you try to launch it with both gpu's enabled. A temporary workaround is to go to Device manager, disable your dedicated gpu (in your case - AMD), launch the game and while the launcher is showing "Loading" enable your gpu back again. This will prevent launcher from crashing, while still allowing you to run the game with your dedicated gpu. If you don't get it right on first try, try re-enabling the gpu slightly later, timing is the key here.
You have to do this every time you launch the game, except when restarting from within the game to apply graphics settings."

Still, although I do get past this screen now, the game itself won't load, but I guess this is another thread...

Thank you all!

Hi, I was facing the same problem, I solved it by rattling my brain for 2 days until I got the solution. Follow below steps.
1. Remove any traces of GTA 5 on your harddrive incase some part is installed.
2. Disable UAC(in control panel make it all the way to the lowest settings)
3. Disable any anti virus you might have until game is installed (just a precaution).
4. Use Guru3D driver cleaner to uninstall any graphics card drivers.
5. Restart and Install latest graphics drivers (for me its AMD 7850 and catalyst 15.4 as it is GTA optimized).
6. Install Direct X, GTA social club and Visual C++ which are on the first DVD.(Or download them)
7. Now u need 70 GB on a harddisk drive so that u can copy paste all the files for ALL the dvds into one folder "GTA 5 setup"
8. Once all are copied, run the setup. It should hopefully work. :)

CHEERS :D
