Can I have 4x 4GB? (M5A97)

Solution
I've never had a problem as long as each set was the same. I currently have two sets of triple channel RAM (2 sets 3 x 2GB) that were purchased more than three years apart that works great. To get the best results you should get the exact same RAM, pay attention to the timings and voltage especially if you cant get exactly the same. You may get away with different but the further away from each other they are the more problems you could have.

That said a new larger set is safer if you don't want to risk it.

You would be better off with buying 2x8 GB of RAM and just sell your old sticks. I am not really an expert with RAM but i do know that it tends to give problems very often if you mix different RAM sticks. It could even cause problems if you buy exactly the same sticks. It doesn't have to cause trouble, but it could.

So i would really recommend buying 2x8GB of RAM and sell your old sticks :)
