A8 6600K overclock @ 4.2 ghz + 8gb 2400 mhz ram compatible?

I think the CPU should be able to handle that overclock, but that RAM speed should be down-graded a little bit. (Try 2133MHz RAM)

I wouldn't even call 4.2ghz on A8-6600k an OC as that's the TURBO speed of the CPU. The only thing you did was lock it in turbo mode. I presume the reason you are doing this is to take full advantage of the iGP yes? Hence the OC of the RAM and even the processor.
If you really want to max things out, you can try OC'ing it up to 4.4ghz-4.6ghz. These seems to be the magic numbers for OC (mine is personally at 4.5ghz, and yes i am also using A8-6600k). You will just ofcors need a good airflow/cooling system as temperature will surely rise. Fan control is imperative or you risk burning your processor. Your RAM is a too high, you might shorten your RAM's life. Try OC'ing it to 2133mhz 1st then check how it performs.
I really don't see the point of OC'ing RAM unless it's for your iGP. If you have a Stand alone card, no need to OC RAM.

Should be perfectly fine, many (but not all) 6600K CPUs can run even up to 2666, 2800 and have seen some that can carry 3000, 3200 with no OC on the CPU
