In task manager it shows I only have 2 cores beings used. It also says in CPU-Z I have 2 cores. And also in the BIOS it says I have to 2 cores when my CPU says it's a quad-core. While in device manager it says I have 4 processors. I want to figure out how to unlock these cores and use them so I can run games better. Help?

Processor I have is a A10 5800K

Unfortunately I did check my BIOS and it still said I only had 2 cores.

Biostar Hi-Fi A85W. I didn't recently build this computer.
EDIT: I've had this computer for years. I've been dealing with this 2 core issue for a while now, I didn't think this was too big of an issue until more games that have come out nearly required a quad-core to run them.

Mmm, did you drop or damage the CPU in anyway when building you computer because if so that could be why. Also check under the CPU section under advance if you haven't already because there can be a settings to disable hyper threading and cores, I only say this as I don't know if you just checked your display settings or if you checked the actual setting for it.

Where do I access these settings? Do you mean check in the BIOS?

Checked the bios and no CPU options that have anything to do with my cores, only thing I can do is disable or enable the 2 cores it says I have.

What temperature does your CPU reach? Underload and at idle, as hot temperatures could of damaged your CPU making two of the cores unusable. I know some other people who let there cpu get a bit to warm for a long time and it killed some of there cores.
