Hey guys, I have two 980's im trying to put in sli, but cant find the bios option to enable. in windows nvidia control panel the option to switch to sli is greyd out. so I would imagine its a bios setting. anyone familiar with this board?

Solution

No booting one card at a time lets you know whether one card is broken

As to your fix, no it doesn't matter but in doing so you obviously made a better connection. Ya sometimes have to jiggle them a bit and I find you get better contact having the flexible ribbon pushed in between the cards rather than bulging out towards the case sides.

So there is no BIOS setting? The mobo is X99s xpower ac. yes i have the bridge, three total slots two 980's and a fatal1ity sound card. yes cables are properly connected. msi afterburner sees both cards but a benchmark says gpu 1 is not being used.

After looking at the user guide I have one card in pci_e1 and the other in pci_e4 and that is the correct format for 2-way sli... if it helps I have the

like boot with one card to enable sli? cuz both cards are being seen but its just the sli options arnt letting me do it. do you know of a 3rd party software that I could do that? like msi or precision x?

digging the manual a bit more, there is an additional 4pin power periferal connector on the lowest end of the motherboard.

''Make sure that all the power cables are securely connected to a proper ATX power
supply to ensure stable operation of the motherboard''

So I plugged it in but there is no difference. But apparently it matters if the cable is right side up or upside down.... i flipped the sli bridge and now have the ability to enable it. now it just freezes on full screen... ether way the sli issue is fixed. now onto another, the wonderful worlds of computers... Thanks guys!
