Many different sites say different things regarding high CPU temps. I have an AMD FX(tm)-8150 8-core processor with an Antec Kuhler 650 attached to it. CPU temps were 10-20 idle and in the 30-40 range when gaming the past few months with the Antec attached. The other day my comp shut off from overheating. Now, the idle is about 20-30 and the CPU temps are in between 60-70 when gaming and even doing something as simple as surfing the web.
I have a computer guy who actually replaced the old Antec with this newer one because my comp was turning off due to overheating. Antec said it was probably a bad unit. It has been working fine til the other day. Talked to the computer guy again and he said that running in the 60-70 range is fine, but i've seen a lot of mixed opinions. Many people say it's OK other say for this type of processor that it shouldn't be over 60.
(these are temps using SpeedFan. BIOS temp is about 74-78)
Thoughts?
Also...does it seem like this newer Antec Kuhler i installed is now not working properly? I feel like CPU temp shouldn't be in the 60-70s with a liquid cooling unit attached, especially when it ran in the 30s a few months ago.
