Hi guys, I recently (yesterday) decided to overclock my CPU, as i noticed that, even while idle my cpu was running at around 50%. So anyways I go into my bios and set the multiplier to 42 to see if that would help with my problem, up the voltage to 1.25V to make sure the CPU had enough power to reach my multiplier requirements, and All was good with the world

However I noticed that while playing intensive games such as Far Cry 4 or Crysis 3 I was getting huge screen tears that weren't there in the past before I started the overclock. Now I assumed that this was due to my temps being too high so I watched the temps of my CPU and GPU and neither were reaching above 70 degrees. I tried playing a less intensive game such, Just Cause 2 and it straight up crashed giving me a DirectX error code 6. Does anyone know what might be causing these or how i can fix it?

Specs are
Intel Core i5 4690k
16gb ddr3
Asus Maximus VII Hero
GTX 780TI

There's a bit more to OC'ing than Vcore and temps but I have never seen a CPU OC cause screen tearing.

42 multiplier should be no issue at all...remember the 4790k goes to 44 stock so your not going to do any harm.

Try upping VCCIN (Eventual CPU Input voltage) to something like 1.880

What are RAM specs ? (Speed / timings)

What cooler ?

be sure to note ya BIOS clock .... it might get stuck after a crash and this will have to be corrected before anything else gets addressed.

The issue was actually Artifacting, my bad. But I did as you said And I upped the VCCIN to 1.880 and it seems to be working fine in Far cry, I will load up justcause and see if I get the same crashing error.
