Hello people,

I am experiencing FPS drops in most modern games with my current setup and i would like to know if by getting 4 more gigabites of ram would make a big difference in gaming or if i should get a new cpu(i would like to add that currently i don't have the budget for a new cpu and mobo) to be able to play modern games without FPS drops. If the ram upgrade isn't enough could you offer a cheap solution?I will list my setup bellow.

Asrock g41m-vs3 r2.0 motherboard
Core 2 duo E6600 2.4 ghz cpu
4 GB ram ddr3 1066 mhz
Nvidia msi GTX 750ti
SSD 120 GB
2 old hard drives(One 150 GB, one 200 GB)
500 W PSU

I know that my cpu is bottlenecking my gpu, but is there a way to be able to play modern games without fps drops without spending a lot of money? and if there is please tell me.

Thanks in advance!(this is my first post, so i don't know if i listed it in the right section)Waiting for your answers :)

The ram might work, but even then I think you wont see much of a performance boost from the extra 4gb. Your CPU is just too much of a bottleneck. I would recommend getting a used i5 2000 series cpu if you dont have the budget for a new one (I would recommend an older i5 over a new i3/pentium), and 6-8gb of ram. This will let you play all new games at high framerates, and wont bottleneck most GPU's on the market. This is a good deal i found on an i5 2300+motherboard+2gb of ram(That you might be able to use with your 4gb for 6gb) http://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-MS-7680-Motherboard-1-Intel-Core-i5-2300-2-8GHz-2GB-RAM-Post-/331524938912?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d306d1ca0

Most modern games are now starting to reccomend 8 gb's of ram, also dual channel is faster than single channel. So yes I would reccomend spending the extra 30-40 bucks to get another 4gb stick.

My mobo has only 2 slots for ram memories.Currently i don't have dual channel but a single ram of 4 Gbs.If i get another 4 will it be the same as having 8 Gb dual channel?

Yes it will be dual channel, just make sure you get the same make and model of RAM. :)

Thanks for the info.So if i get another mode(for example a newer one)l it won't work?Cause it'll be hard to find the same model since it's pretty old.

It will be a pain in the butt to find one that has the exact specs and even if it does have the exact specs it might not run to well. If your RAM is really that old just go with a 2x4 RAM kit. If it was easy to mix and match RAM they wouldn't be sold in kits like they are :)

Thanks for your answer mate. Here's my question about your post.Is the i5 2000 going to play all the games smoothly for the next few years as well?Cause if i am to spend 190 euro, it'd be a waste to have to upgrade it after one year again.Wouldn't it be better to wait a bit and gather a few more money and get something better and more futureproof?

The i5 2000 series will still be good for a while probably 2-3 more years at least. The newer ones aren't actually that much better for gaming, other than their onboard graphics... If you save up a bit more then it would be good to get an overclockable CPU, like the 2500k, 3570k, 4670k, 4690k, etc... Then you can overclock if you wanted better performance (Although by the time these CPU's aren't playing games anymore it will be time to get a new cpu anyways).
