Okay, i'll try to make this as laid out as possible. I have 2 2tb seagate drives in a docking station i use for my xbox, every now and then ill connect it to my computer and move movies onto it. The other day i tried this and my computer wont read them, i tried all 6 usb ports to no avail. I could hear the ding of my computer acknowledging something being connected but nothing in my computer, i went to device manager and the drive shows up under usb mass storage and says the driver is up to date and working correctly, also under control panel>administrative tools>computer management>storage>disk manager it shows up at the bottom unallocated, but not at the top. Any ideas? i know the drive works fine because my xbox runs smooth and that's where all the files for the xbox are saved, Games, games saves ect..

Hi Nuklhead074.
It looks like your drive doesn't have a partition with a files system. The "top" is your System Reserved partition and your C: drive, which are on the internal HDD of your computer. I gather that the "bottom" is your external drive. If you want to be able to use it you should create a partition (or more, depending on your preference) and format the drive with a file system. Note that you shouldn't do that just yet, if you need to recover any data from that drive. If you've been using it without a problem up until now and this happened out of the blue, this might be an indication that the HDD might be failing or that some other issue occurred.
If you have data to recover, I'd recommend that you try accessing the drive via Linux Live CD/USB to see if it recognizes it properly and if you can get your data back, or try some of the data recovery software programs from this thread: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html
If you don't want to recover anything, I'd recommend that you download the manufacturer's diagnostic tool and test the drive to see if any errors or bad sectors pop-up.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response i appreciate it. And yes i have been using it with zero issues up until now, my computer was having a usb driver issue that i recently resolved, but anytime before i would plug it up, it would read, and i could write to it as well, now it wont even pop up in my computer at all, and if something was wrong with the drive wouldnt it act up on my xbox? The xbox requires me to download each game, so i use the external storage for all of them, so even the slightest problem would boot me out of the game as it wouldnt see it any longer and i have never had one issue, which is why i think this is so odd. Tomorrow im going to try taking each drive from the dock and hooking them up individually with my sata cable and see what happens.

It depends on the problem, if the HDD has bad sectors or any other issues, it might act up on your Xbox as well (freezes, drop of Fps etc.). Having in mind the drive's storage space is shown as unallocated, it's normal for it, not to pop-up when you connect it to the computer, because Windows can't recognize and read the data without a File System. You could also try the drive with another computer as well to see if the same thing happens.
