Is it the memory or the motherboard ?

I had problems booting to an OS install (linux or windows) and did different things until I decided to test the memory.

Motherboard : EVGA Stinger Z97 Wifi
http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=111-HR-E973-KR

Memory : G.Skill F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK (2 x 2gb)
http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-10666cl8d-4gbhk

STRANGE STRANGE STRANGE !!!

So I decided to test the memory ram again.
Removed DIM from Slot #2 -> nothing happenning, not even going to bios
Replaced DIM in slot #1 with the one from slot #2 -> nothing, not even going to bios
Put back DIM #2 in slot #2 (nothing in slot 1) -> booted to bios and when I overide to USB stick, it worked. I tried several time with success
Then I put the DIM #1 in slot #2 (nothing in slot 1) -> nothing, not even going to the bios

I am pretty sure I am not mixing the slot numbers here.
When I have the dim in slot #2, in the bios I can see that both slot are "blue" but only the slot #2 have the number 2 in it, there is nothing in the other one.

Slot #1 being closer to the cpu socket
Slot #2 being the farther of the cpu socket & closer to the border of the motherboard.

You can also see it's written DIM1 over DIM2 on the PCB.

I was thinking of buying new rams, but this get me confused.

USB is a sandisk but it's irrevelant to this now that I figured out it's not the problem (it works on my laptop).

Priority is set to USB disk

It's says that it won't boot if there is not a ram in slot #1, but in the bios it really look like it's in slot #2, and for me the dim is in slot #2 physically unless I am mixing slot #1 and #2. What do you think ?

The manual doesn't say wich one is #1 and #2. I have to fallow the writting on the pcb.
Do you think my assumption is correct ?

There could be two possible things in my opinion:

Either of RAMs is faulty. But if they both have been tested individually then my assumption is false.

One of the DIMM Socket may be faulty as well. Again just my assumption.

Have you updated the BIOS?

Did you get beeps if both RAMs are removed?

Remove the usb and use your OS drive as first priority - to uncomplicate things.

If your manual doesn't say which slot is which try EVGA to clarify.

Its an uncommon motherboard. And only having 2 dimm slots too. And you having only 2 x 2gb ram is unusual too. And having Linux and Windows - 2 OS. And it's uncommon for the manual to not say which is which dimm slot.

So far I am using the stock cooler. I plan on using another one but not sure yet what I want to go with. I want to do some test with the stock to identify the temperature in the case, and cpu and the noise level (as it's in the living room).

I updated the bios from version 1.04 to 1.05. I had the same issue with both.
There is no sound but I don't have a speaker plugged directly but there is an "lcd" to diagnose and there is nothing on it.
The date & time are correct, even if the time is a little bit off but just cause I never set it correctly and it's probably for another time zone.
