Hello, i am trying to make myself a gaming build using either Intel or AMD, and either Nvidia or AMD, but i am not sure which build to go with. I will be doing gaming on a 1920x1080 monitor and will have another 1440x900 monitor for movies, iTunes and such. Here are the builds i have come up with:

(IN AUD)

Build AMD:
CPU - AMD FX-8350 4GHz Octo-Core
CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
MOBO - ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 ATX AM3+
SSD - Samsung 850 Pro Series 256GB 2.5"
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4X4) DDR3 1600 MHz
GPU - MSI Radeon R9 280x 3GB TWIN FROZR
Case - NZXT Phantom 410
PSU - EVGA 850 G2

I can get this build for about $1505. I have been told AMD's drivers aren't going so great at the moment, and the FX-8350 isn't as great for gaming as the next build's CPU.

Build Intel:
CPU - Intel i7-4790 3.6Ghz Quad-Core
CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
MOBO - Gigabyte GA-H97-GAMING 3 ATX
SSD - Samsung 850 Pro Series 256GB 2.5"
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8) DDR3 1600 MHz
GPU - EVGA Geforce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked
Case - NZXT Phantom 410
PSU - EVGA 850 G2

I can get this build for around $1873. Any suggestions to replace parts and making it cheaper will be appreciated.

I am not sure which build to go with, and which will be more future proof. Any recommendations what i should do?

Change out the i7 for a Xeon 1231v3. It is equivalent to an i7 4770, but lacks IGP. It is nearly $70 cheaper too. The R9 290 is a good deal cheaper, and not all that much slower than a 970.

Yeah it will start a war but here is another opinion to look at.
i use to have the fx 8350 before i switched out for a i7-5820k (overclocked to 4.5ghz)
Framerate/performance has more than doubled
This is also on a gtx 970 (the msi golden edition one)

The intel build you have listed will run laps around the amd one in both gpu and cpu with ease.

Includes os, disc drive and a 1tb hdd
