Hi everyone,

I have Gigabyte G41M Combo Mobo rev 2.0 with Intel C2d E7400 2.8 Ghz processor and DDR2 Ram.

I bought G skill RipjawsX 1333 Mhz 1*4 Gb but couldn't make it work.
The G-Skill customer service said that Ripjaws series used one sided IC chips which might not work on older motherboards.
They adviced me to buy Value Ram series so I bought G-Skill 4 Gb DDR3 1333 Mhz Value ram which they said uses two sided IC Chips.

But it still doesn't work.
I reset the bios, load the defaults but still it won't work.
When I switch on the power, There is no display and no beeps but the mobo is working I can see the fan running.

And there are two people I know(online review) who are using the same ram on the same mobo and its working for them?
Yes I am installing it firmly in the right slot and not using DDR2 and DDR3 together.

What do I do? Anything I might be missing, anyone?

Help Urgent Need!
Thanks in Advance

Hi There,

I had similar issue with a samsung 1600Mhz RAM it couldn't down clock to 1066mhz try changing ur processor's FSB to 1333(Yes OC) then plugin the RAM

Do try alternative slots too.

i would recommend you a Corsair value select they are more compatible than GSkill

You are absolutely right but shouldn't the ram automatically downclock to 1066 Mhz.
Also I was looking to buy a ddr3 ram in 1066 Mhz ram but couldn't find one.
I read one review of this ram with this mobo with core 2 duo E7500 2.93 Ghz which also has fsb 1066 Mhz working like a charm.

Its making me crazy!!

If I can't get it work, I will have to try Corsair too.
How do I overclock my CPU?

There is one setting in memory diagnostics under DRAM Performance Control that says Performance Enhance and default setting is standard, other options are turbo and extreme.

Do I need to change that?

Also I forgot to mention that I also have a Graphics Card installed ATi Radeon 5570 HD 1 GB. Could this have anything to do with it?

Did the card give output when the other set of DDR2 are put in?

R8 = right? :p

for the OC increase the DRAM frequency and u won't have to increase the CPU multiplier.

Yes the card has been working great for a long time with no problem.

Out of these
DRAM Performance Control

Performance Enhance Standard
MCH Frequency Latch Auto
System Memory Multiplier SPD Auto
Memory Frequency 800 800
DRAM Timing Schedule SPD Auto

What needs to be changed?
Also I have read in a lot of places that this mobo, though it states that it supports O.C. 1333 Mhz Ram, becomes unstable at 1333 Mhz.

That's not possible. That is like unclickable. Its fixed maybe because my ddr2 ram is 800 Mhz.

Just that. Nothing else needs to be changed. I mean other settings.

Also when I do that, with DDR2 ram installed, and save and exit, normally PC would restart but what will happen in this case since the installed ram is only 800 Mhz? Would the PC just shut down automatically?

If that happens, then I can simply replace the DDR2 with DDR3 and see what happens, no problem in that.

But if it still doesn't work, would I still be able to get into bios again with my DDR2 ram and change that setting back?

bro this is your lucky day i have the solution just minutes ago i do answer my solution in the forum of Gigabyte :

I have the same motherboard GA-G41M-COMBO and also I had the same problem, i did buy two memory moduls ADATA AXDU1333GB2G9-3G, just i do think this kind of memory will be working fine in my motherboard because are inside of specs of Mobo.

Here's what happened i did install the two new modules of DDR3 ADATA 1333 and the motherboard just can not boot anything this just kept beeping without any possibility of go inside of BIOS, and then like there was not way to select some option like *Default Settings*, so I assumed than i should delete the BIOS settings through CLR_CMOS jumper and so I try (and even retire the battery) but it did not work and the mobo kept beeping after the clearing of settings, the which is something very strange as this motherboard should support DDR3.

But then happened something very strange here, you see how before i was using two modules of DDR2 both of 1GB and like this still work for my I do have the idea of do downgrade to another bios one older than the last than i do have flashed in the mobo and after of make this and only so finally the motherboar was capable of can boot with the new memory DDR3.

To here that was my solution, but then i do assume something will be wrong with the last bios provided by gigabyte and to confirm this i just think i was be easy prove just i will reflash again the last bios with the new DDR3 Modules working and after this the Motherboard logically would not boot and so i make it, but I had a big surprise when this time with the bios than before cant get work now it do work nicely..

Someone understand where was the problem, but all this was my sulution hope to someone this info be useful... =)

Sorry for my poor inglish, cheersss!!!!!
