My computer is starting to run out of power to run new games with high ress textures, so i was looking at upgrading it but it has a Intel i5-760 2,8GHz, wich i think would "bottleneck" any mid-high range graphics card that i would buy so should i change it to a new i5 like the 4690k?
but this would also make me change motherboard becuase it has a 1156 socket. allso if i change these what should i upgrade to?

"Upgrading" is not a course of action I would advise, I would keep the PC case, DDR3 memory (only if its at least 1333MHz), the hard drive, but throw the rest of the guts away and buy everything new.

Now... depending on your budget, you can go for many different options, Austin Evans' YouTube channel has a variety of build available, each named for their respective properties. Go check it out!

Yes you have to change the motherboard to a LGA 1150 socket to run Haswell CPUs. Broadwell(Will support LGA1150 socket as long as the motherboard has H9x or Z9x series chipset) is nearly out so it's your call to wait or go for a Haswell now. BTW skylake is also coming up in the second half this year(which will also require a new motherboard).

If you already have a VGA you can also overclock your CPU a bit get better performance. You better have a good quality motherboard or you won't like the outcome. You should consider other factors like PSU quality and cooler as well. This is just a thought. It will save you some time to wait while waiting for skylake.

You probably would be better off just building a new computer that has more modern components in it .

Amd is getting to have some nice processors out on the market for a good price too

I'd say wait for Skylake to hit and maybe try overclocking your i5 in the interim if you really feel you need more performance now. No matter what, you're going to need to replace the motherboard, and LGA 1150 is getting close to the end of its life.

I wouldn't recommend anything from AMD, most AMD chips would be a sidegrade at best compared to a Lynnfield i5 when it comes to gaming. The only games where the 8 core FX chips do significantly better than a Lynnfield i5 are ones that can scale beyond 4 cores, and those titles are still pretty rare.

I have an i5 760 running at stock myself, and it can handle a current upper midrange card reasonably fine. For most titles, I get full usage out of my GTX 770. If you want to get a GTX 970 or 980, then yes you would run into a bottleneck if you don't overclock.

the i5 should be just about ok for 2015, what gpu do you have?
