Well, tech Lords of Tom's hardware, I propose a challenge to you. I have $1200 to spend and I need some advice on how to get the most power for my money. (Keep in mind this shall be my first build) My ideas were:

GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Amd FD9590FHHKWOF Fx-9590 Oem Fx-series 8-core Black Edition

Corsair Hydro Series H90 140 mm High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD

Rosewill Xtreme Series 750W 80 PLUS Certified Power Supply ATX12V / EPS12V 750
NZXT Guardian 921 RB ATX Mid Tower Case, Black

I am not loyal to AMD on the processor, so if you can justify a more expensive Intel.

UPDATE: If you're wondering why I chose this semi modular PSU instead of many fully modular's out there at this price range, read this review @Jonnyguru : http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story6&reid=383
