So my computer screen is going white while I'm watching YouTube videos and Netflix, so I've concluded that it has something to With the graphics card (HIS Radeon r9 270x). The screen goes white, then comes back with colored splotches, messed up screen resolution and the computer is frozen. Then eventually the computer shuts off. All drivers are up to date.

Hmm, I never really liked HIS. You sound pretty confident that it's your video card. Do you have an old card you could test this out with perhaps?

I cant think of anything else it would be. Im not confident though, It may be something else, but its definitely not the monitor. i know that for a fact. I dont have another graphics card to test unfortunately.

I second this motion. Does your MoBo or CPU have integrated graphics, that would work :)?

Before claiming A caused D do some basics that ALSO cause the same issues:

Did you install all Windows Updates? Including OPTIONAL except BING? Check them and repeat till ALL are installed.

Download and run Slim Drivers, install all the latest updates but you don't need to reboot until you do the last update

Go to www.filehippo.com, download Malwarebytes, go to CUSTOM Scan and set it to do a full system scan (by DEFAULT IT DOESN"T DO THAT, and AntiVirus doesn't pick up alot of malware) - this resolved almost ALL other similiar posts to date as most had Malware the AV didn't pick up.

Remove whatever AV your using and download AVIRA, AVG, Comodo or Panda go to CUSTOM Scan and set it to do a full system scan (by DEFAULT IT DOESN"T DO THAT) - this repeatedly has resolved alot of people issue relying on MS Essentials.

Repeat the AV/Malware scans till the system comes up clean.

Download and run SPECCY, copy and paste the first tab to show your idle temps

Download AUTORUNS and turn off anything NOT critical on startup, so you don't need to run JAVAScheduler to check for Java updates everytime you start your computer for example. BE CAREFUL AND KNOW WHAT YOUR TURNING OFF BEFORE YOU DO IT.

Open Computer, Can Air dust out the bunnies and use paint brush on the vents, coolers, fans, etc.

Go through and provide a response on each point, don't SKIP IT because "I ALREADY DID IT" , just try doing it again as of THIS post so we know NOW what is happening as compared to BEFORE you posted.

Tom, would you recommend AVIRA over Microsoft Security Essentials as a free antivirus?

YES absolutely. MSE is garbage, and review states so, and is totally unsupported. I use Avira after AVAST! got hacked and was unreliable. Not had problems since. All those I suggest are FREE solutions and free of any 'addons' or such. That is the basic steps I came up with that happen to resolve about 90% of the problems posted on here / normally for computer users.

Then it looks like I'll be uninstalling MSE and getting Avira, :D!. Thanks, Tom!

All, upon further investigation, the issue here was (king of) with the graphics card. I Know this is really late, but I wanted to close all my threads so the issue was actually with the browser. On your browser, find a setting called "Accelerated Graphics" and turn it off. Each browser will have a different way to access this and some will not have the option, which is why some browsers didnt have this issue. I dont know why htis causes the problem, but that is the solution. Hope this helps.
