Hello, in my house the modem(?) is outside or something simular to a modem that the cablels from the 3 routers we have run to. There is also a switch that if not powered on/the ethernets on it are not plugged in non of the routers in the house will connect to the modem as the switch I believe blocks this. How can I get around this? Would I have to disconnect the switch from the modem and instead connect it to my master router? The only problem with this is that they run throught the wall and it may be difficult to do but so be it. Thanks!

who owns the modem and that other thing you're plugging into? sounds like you're connecting to someone else's modem/router box and yeah if they turn it off you get nothing.
