I just built my pc and it has windwos 8 with I really hate. I want windows 7 but idk what version to get? Home premium , professional, or ultimate?

Most drivers are written with 8.1 in mind, also 8.0 and 8.1 have better support for SSD's. Garbage collection, trim, etc.
I couldn't stand windows 8 or 8.1 until i ran classic shell, and turned off active corners and the charms menu.
It's stupid to have the metro screen come up if you hover in a corner, or a bar come from the side.

Win8.1 performs a few percent better, and I've seen it being sold for cheaper, so there's no real need to go to Win7. and since you already have 8, then do the upgrade to 8.1 (it's free) and see how it goes.

personally, I prefer 8.1 even on a non-touchscreen machine. it's easier, more direct, more sensible in daily use. every time I use 7 on my laptop, I have to say "oh yeah, this is how the long-winded way of doing things is..." people hate 8 partly because 7 was so much better than Vista, but 8 wasn't able to replicate that huge improvement.

try 8.1 before you drop even an eighth of a cent on 7.

Windows 7 Home Premium x64

$95

Personally I prefer Win 8.1, but if you've tried it in depth and dislike it...then Win 7.

And there is zero performance difference for a gaming PC between Home Premium, Pro, and Ultimate. Just more 'features', which you will never, ever use.

Ohh okay so I should stick with 8 basically. Problem is I got my pc built and installed at a place. I never got the windows 8 disks and im having a lot of trouble atm. So I need to buy a new os and reinstall it because my windows 8 doesn't update no matter what idk why? It's updates always fail and I can't get 8.1

If they installed it, and the Win 8 OS was included as a line item in your purchase, they are/were required to give you the license, install media, and COA.

If they didn't, and your current OS install is not 'updating as it should be....
Then they installed a pirate version and told you it was a valid one.

So, you have two options:
1. Go back to them and make them get it right
or
2. wash your hands of them and buy your own OS.

Just get Windows 8.1 to start. No reason to buy "8", and then upgrade (for free) to 8.1.

(and there is no 'cheap'. It costs what it costs.)
