AMD FX-8350 or i5 4570?

Solution
I own both a 8320 and a i5-4690k

I'll tell you the difference
-newer chipset on the intel board = faster boot times, so this is a plus
-lower power usage on the intel system (it's not as huge as some people make out but it is a difference)
-lower heat from the intel system = quieter system (this simply isn't debatable, if noise is a concern you build an intel)

-in gaming on a 1080p 60hz monitor you will notice ZERO difference. your monitor's refresh rate is the bottleneck not the cpu.
-around 4.7ghz or so, AMD cpus are basically indistinguishable from intel on 60hz monitors 1080p and larger, i couldn't tell you the difference and i own both
-if you stick an ssd on both systems, they'll basically fell identical in windows (zero...

I'm currently running an AM3+ board, so it'd save money to go with an AMD, although it doesn't really matter. I've always wanted to switch to Intel.
I'm going to be doing lots of video/picture editing and recording, with gaming also thrown in.

if it is for gaming and rendering veid stuff or what ever

the xeon is as good as it gets if u dont plan overclocking

also i would go with an intel any day of the week instead of having to OC an 8 core FX to near 5 GHZ to support a high end gpu

-if you have a 144hz monitor you WILL tell the difference, the intel will perform much better

-if you're not overclocking you WILL tell the difference, the intel will feel snappier in pretty much everything

-if you're multitasking (serious multitasking, like professional video editing plus running a virtual machine... ect) you'll think the AMD is the superior system. Now before the intel fanboys lynch me let me make myself clear. I am talking about running VMWare, with a whole other OS running in the background doing it's own thing at the same time i'm doing either work or play on the computer. The 8 core fx slaughters the quad core intel in this situation. i know i'm a unique user, but the difference is obvious to me. Even without vmware running, there are times when serious multitasking the fx cpu simply is better.

well you'll see a boost from an 8 core fx. the only way you'll get an intel to work as well in that situation is if you have an i7. or a Xeon E3-1231 V3

either way you'll want to replace your motherboard. that msi 970-g43 won't handle an 8 core fx cpu at stock let alone when overclocking.
