Is the hard drive of my laptop what is causing performance issues?

I am experiencing a lot of laggy performance from my laptop and am not really sure why it is acting the way it is. I try to play music, browse the web, and do text editing at the same time (which I don't believe are very demanding tasks) and the music starts skipping and the browser gets really slow. I check my memory and CPU while this stuff happens and they are normally fine. Is my SSHD the problem? I have a Lenovo Ideapad U530. If not, are there any good guides around to deep tune my laptop so that it isn't so laggy (I know the basic run CCleaner, delete background tasks, etc.).

Hi there thepinkanator95,

What is your OS? In case it is Windows 8(8.1), you can go to Task Manager -> Performance and see whether the Disk Usage is high. If this is the case, you can try disabling some Windows Services like: Windows Search, Superfetch, BITS. Check this article out: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2027511/windows-disk-usage-100-problem.html
If the HDD usage seems to be normal, then you can test the drive with some brand specific testing tool and see whether there is something wrong with the drive.
Apart from that, the performance decrease could be caused by issues associated with other components as well:
- You can test your RAM
- Update all your drivers
- Check the temps of your laptop. Amassed dust could be...
