Thanks but I just woke up this morning and it booted. I just recalled that it had to install a lot of windows updates too. I'll post on here if I have a problem but I think I'll be fine, thanks.

It takes a DAY for it to boot? (Looks at OP with wide eyes, disbelieving glare and open mouth.) Heh, yeah, there's a real issue there.

It sounds like there's a serious hardware issue or a boot partition problem.

I'd start by running Seatools for Windows. Run the short drive self test and the long generic:

If it passes both of those I'd reinstall Windows. Do you have installation disks OR a recovery partition on your hard drive?

I started the short test and in less than one minute it said "short DST Fail"

I googled it and that means my hard drive is really bad... Is there anything I can do to make it last for another year or few months? It took me 13 hours of research to install windows 7 on this desktop because it was so complex.

No. If it failed the short DST, it's done. It needs to be replaced immediately and should not be trusted AT ALL with any further data whatsoever. I'm sorry for your issue, but if you reinstalled due to issues you were having, this is the most likely cause anyhow. Get a new drive. I don't know anything about your budget but you can get a replacement drive, probably much larger than that one, for pretty cheap. You'll want to first be sure that the cable is not the culprit. If you have another data cable, try swapping them out and retest just to be sure. If it does the same thing, replace the drive.

Alright thank you. Unfortunately I do not have another data cable. I was looking at a 250 gb hard drive for about 33 dollars and free shipping on ebay which i always buy from. Should I buy a new one or take the risk and use my backup one? Risking as in I have no idea what condition my other one I have is in.
