AMD CPU Upgrade

Hello.
I was wondering if it is worth upgrading my PC with a new CPU (AMD Vision A8-6600K). I mean, I want to know If I'll get better performance in games like GTA V, BattleField Hardline, etc.

You could find a little bit of more performance as you have only a dual core at the moment, and as games progress they are taking the use of more cores. So upgrading to a quad core will be a good future proof. So if you have the money to spend then future proofing your self for the latest games will be worth it.

Oh and yes in games such as gta v you will get better performance as that game takes a lot of rendering, I think some people are even having trouble loading the game on a dual core CPU.

A6 6400K to A8 6600K isn't a huge upgrade but It would help, The added cores would be made use of you should also look at upgrading your RAM to at least 1866 overclocked to 2133mhz or just buying 2133mhz. APU's will get about 15% better fps with just increasing RAM speed and timing. Overclocking is also key to APU performance in gaming, With decent cooling you should be able to hit 4.5ghz or better on a A8 6600K I have seen 5ghz and have done so on a A10 6800K.

The best options for FM2 is a Athlon II X4 750K or 860K Overclocked matched with a R7 270X or better then your RAM speed isn't such a factor.

I reckon your gpu is the bottleneck. Go nvidia and don't turn back! The GTX 970 is a popular choice.

You'll get the best performance boost for your money by upgrading to a discrete GPU and by overclockng your processor to accommodate it.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I don't have that much money at the moment, but I think I'll go for the CPU. And when I'll have enough money I'll just go and build a new PC.

Why in the world would you recommend a $300 GPU with a FM2 A55 Chipset? A 960 GTX or 280X would be the max worth upgrading to for the cost with his CPU limitations.
