Been a while since my last post here on Tom's Hardware, but I've decided to come on over and see if I can get some help from you guys.
So I've ran into an extremely infuriating problem of not being able to get an internet connection on my desktop, mainly because of the Qualcomm drivers not being detected by Windows. This is with a Fatal1ty Z87 Killer mobo btw.
I have tried, so many damn things, I really have no clue as to what to do...
Things I've tried:
- Uninstalling Qualcomm driver (doesn't actually get uninstalled though, it just sits in Programs and Features like a fking sloth).
- Re-installing the driver (does absolutely nothing)
- Uninstalling Ethernet Controller and Unknown Device in Device Manager (they both eventually reappear after some time and a scan for hardware changes).
- Tried updating driver software for both the ethernet controller and the unknown device (just says that it couldn't find it, even when I select the folder where the exact driver installer is).
- Throwing PC off of roof (actually haven't this yet, might do-so in a couple hours though).

So yeh, I really have no clue as to what to do, I'd really appreciate some help.
Cheers.

Edit:
Derp, forgot to mention that I think that the "Unknown Device" is the E2200 Killer network adapter, thus the name of this thread. I think it's fked and now Windows doesn't recognise it.

So you have a Killer E2200 Network Adapter? Did it just stop working out of nowhere? It seems like windows is causing the main issue, not recognizing the drivers in some shape or form. I'd say just do a nice, fresh and brand new install, IF you don't mind and have nothing major to backup.

That solves most headaches when you've tried everything else under the sun, :). It seems that your Killer E2200 Network Adapter STILL WORKS, just that windows is a POS sometimes and doesn't like to do basic things...like recognize your network card.

What version of windows do you have....and what mobo?

Seems like I wasn't quick enough with my edits aye lol.
I'm running Win7 64bit with a Z87 Killer mobo.
I just got it not too long ago after sending another one back because of some other problems, though that's a different story. I do remember it working before, it would have had to of been, but after a little while after using it instead of my GA-Z87X-OC Force (audio issues, another motherboard problem) the internet connection just cut out, so I went back to using my Z87X-OC Force.
But I am unable to use my headset (some super bad audio issues, popping, crackling and buzzing), and now even in GTA V my monitor speakers are spitting out some really bad audio, so that's why I switched back over to the Z87 Killer.

I guess a backup of my games, programs, documents and such is in order, just a bloody pain to re-install Windows over a damn driver. Thanks for your suggestion.

Man, it sounds like those motherboards you're using are horrible, nothing but problems :-/. Have you done some research on them and seen if anyone else was having similar issues?

I know it's a pain in the ass over just a driver, but when all else fails and you're ripping your hair out over something silly, just reformat 100% clean and see if it works from there, especially if your mobo is acting up.

Sounds like it's the mobo, to be honest. I've never liked ASRock and for these reason specifically. Have you tried ASUS?

Tbh I would've gotten a G45 over the Z87 Killer, but it was cheaper and I was young and naive back then, but the other mobo, the GA-Z87X-OC Force is far from cheap, I think it retailed for about 370 AUD, but I got it for a score at $170, from a reputable place too, and there were 4 others.
I actually would really like to get the Z87X-OC Force traded in for an Asus mobo of similar value, not so much price because I got it for such a low price.
Anyquais, I guess I move all the things I want to keep onto my eHDD, and then tomorrow morning I'll just to another damn reformat and installation of Windows...
*sigh*

Hmm and GIGABYTE is a reliable and trusted brand, too. Okay, well do this....have you ALREADY tried a reformat of windows to fix this driver problem? If not, do that tomorrow morning after you back up everything. Try and compare boards with the one you have, like the ASUS Z87 Pro. Let me know what happens. I know 'REFORMATTING" is not what you wanted to hear but I have faith that with a nice, fresh install and all the mobo drivers installed and up-to-date with their latest versions....THAT IT WILL WORK, :D.
