Have you plugged the power in to the GPU? Have you tried several cables for it?
How many watts is the supply?
How many watts is the supply?
the supply is 550 watts and i plugged in the power to the gpu however i've only used this http://uk.msi.com/pic/image/product_img/accessories_img/2008_accessories_img/powercable.jpg since the power supply cables don't have the 6 slot pci-e cable and i dont have any other cables to try out.

Well...you made an awful mistake with your PSU...clearly..
This is the reason it doesn't work. It has no power.
Take it out, send it back, PAY ATTENTION and get the right type
