Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z97 (Rev 1.x) comes with F4 BIOS by default. In the "CPU Support List", it's recommended to upgrade BIOS to version F6, in order for your motherboard to properly recognize and support the Core i5 4690k.

So here are the options:

- You can request the dealer to flash the motherboard bios to latest F6.

- If your friend has a 4th gen Haswell Processor, borrow and...

- If your friend has a 4th gen Haswell Processor, borrow and install it on your motherboard, flash the BIOS from F4 to F6. Then install the Core i5 4690K.

Regarding Overclocking:

- Yes you can absolutely overclock the processor, since you have an awesome z97 motherboard that is specifically created for overclocking purpose.

- If you're going overclock, just consider buying this insanely popular "Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler" at a reasonable price, which would be better than the default CPU cooler that comes with the processor.
