Hello, a few days ago I overclocked my i5 4790K on a MSI Gaming motherboard to 4,7 ghz on 1,2V. Ran AIDA64 stress test and played some games, temps where fine around 70 not above 80. I installed a MSI desktop app to monitor my fan speed. Next day I wake up and notice my overclock has been reset, somehow the MSI desktop app managed to turn them off. The app wouldn't allow me to set a values in the BIOS as it reset them. I removed the app and I overclocked again. Next day my PC is idle and crashes showing this error message;

All settings were reset to default values.
The previous overclock settings have failed, system has been restored to its default settings.

I increased my Vcore to 1,3 but I kept getting the same message, on high loads and on low loads. I decreased my multiplier to 46, my PC is running cool and doesn't even touch 65 on 100% load. Today I booted up my PC and got the same error message, I don't get blue screens nor does my PC freeze, it just shuts itself of and goes to the error.

edit: This doesn't happen all the time, maybe once in 3-2 days. I'm just worried that my overclock might be damaging the system
(all in Celsius)

Solution
that means your overclock isn't stable enough. considering you went 1.2GHz higher from the stock clock. run aida64 for 2 hours. if no error then its good

also, there is no i5 4790k. the closest i5 to what you're saying is the i5 4690k

whoops typo

I have ran AIDA64 for 2 hours, temps were fine no throttling. Could something else cause the problem?
