Here are the pc specs:
HP Compaq 6200 Pro PC with:

Core I7-2600 Quat Core
16GB RAM
500 GB HD
320 W power supply
Expansion slots include two pcie x1, one pcie x16 graphics full height slots.

We use this pc for running mapping software, and the integrated graphics take quite a beating and also steal processing power from the cp. I'd like to be able to offload the graphics processing to a really strong, really fast, really powerful graphics card with 2-4 gb of onboard memory. Maximum cost must be less than $500.00.

Does such a beast exist that will run on our mapping pc?

Thanks!

You must have the micro-tower which is a good thing because with the SFF variant you would be limited to a 25w GPU.
The MT can take any card that will fit sizewise. (length and width)

What mappnig software do you use so we can see which cards it supports or perhaps can use gpu processing with.
My buddy down in VA tries this with a lowend AMD and its not working so well for him but I dont know what software he uses, just that the maps are in Tiff format. He hunts down civil war artifacts.

Yep, it's the microtower. the software is mapinfo pro 12.5 the recommended graphics requirements are pretty tame, but with the number of overlays that she's working with, and the amount of raw data that she's using, I'd like to over-kill it as much as possible. The installation manual recommends "Mid to High 2D/3D card with 128 MB or better."
