Hello,

I'll get right to it. Was too afraid of OC'ing when I first purchased my PC a few years (?) ago since I didn't know anything about OC'ing. Reviewed a handful of guides/videos but still haven't gone through with it. I want to OC an older build of mine: [3.3 stock to 4.5ghz] i5 2500k with a P8Z6-V LX mobo.

1) I have a COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC case:

Will these fans and the really good airflow suffice? These are all stock and I haven't purchased additional air cooling.
2) Haven't purchased any thermal paste. Would this be a requirement with my specs? Obviously it's not a problem purchasing the paste, I'm just lazy and don't like messing with hardware.

It appears I don't have any CPU cooler on that machine other than the stock cooler on the i5.

Got any reasonable recommendations? Thermal paste is cheap, like 10 dollars or something, so I don't mind purchasing that as well. Do you people recommend a new CPU cooler & thermal paste?

Do you recommend using the thermal paste that comes with the CM 212 evo or purchase something different?

IMO it's almost always better to buy some thermal paste, if anything just for piece of mind and if you need to re-seat the heatsink at any point you've still got plenty left. You don't always know what is bundled with coolers so you don't know if it has a cure time, thermal and electrical conductivity etc. Arctic Coolings MX-4 is a good one, spreads easily with no cure time and has a bunch of reviews to back it up.
Though your probably fine just using what comes with the 212 if you don't want the extra cost, it's not that much of a big deal. I'm just picky :p

The paste that comes with the cooler is fine, and there should be plenty for several applications. Different thermal paste only makes a small difference to temperatures anyway.

I'd recommend the CRYORIG H7, it's made by a newish company and has stellar performance, around that of a NH-D14, while having the footprint and cost of the EVO. Reviws:

Tweaktown shows the H7 having worse cooling performance than the Noctua NH-U12S, let alone the NH-D14. Hitechlegion shows it performing significantly worse than the Be quiet Shadow Rock Slim. So I don't really see how it's worth spending extra for.

Must have thought of another cooler then. It's still a decent bit better than the EVO and only 7 dollars more. Another option is the Raijintek Thermis, also better than the 212 EVO and just 1 dollar more.
