can i use my gpu with out 6 pin power connector

Hi, i was wondering if i could use a hd 5770 to just install windows + software with out the 6 pin power connector while i wait for my molex to 6 pin power addapter to arrive. amd say at idle it take 18w and at load it takes 108w. Through my pcie i can provide 75w so do you think i can run it?

It will likely not boot and tell you to connect the power. I'd wait for the adapter, why risk killing the video card and possibly the PCIe slot. I still remember the day that one of my favorite video cards, the ATI 9800 Pro, died on me because I forgot to re-attach the power to it after I changed some things in the case. It was a gift from a guild member from an MMORPG so meant a bit more than just the video card, sad day. You don't...
