Hello,

I believe I have recently acquired a virus as I was tricked into thinking I needed to update my Flash player in order to watch sporting events online (something I have been required to do in the past and have done without any issues). As a result there are now sounds that play in the background and web browsing has been reduced to a snails pace. I have tried using software to remove the virus but I still have sounds playing in the background.

Can anyone help?

Thank you.

...not a virus? LOL!!!

OP, please disregard this person. He is either:

1.) Utterly clueless
2.) Has the same issue, thinks it's normal
3.) Not read your description properly

Or a mix of all 3

All browsers, or just 1 browser? If it's just 1, it could be a browser-specific add-on that's in that particular one. My in-laws recently had one show up in their Firefox -- think it was Ad-Racer or something like that -- that would bring up all sorts of ads & "search results" on the pages they were trying to view, but it was only showing up in Firefox (IE was 100% clear of it). MalwareBytes & some of the other hardcore scanners saw it, but couldn't remove it because it was an actual extension loaded into Firefox -- you know, the kind where even after uninstalling & reinstalling Firefox, it's still there. Ended up having to disable then remove it from within Firefox, & that fixed it.
