I have an i7-4770k, gtx 770 4g, and 16 gigs of ram. I can run gta on ultra without msaa at about 60 fps and if i turn on msaa to even x2, my performance goes to h--l. Also, I notice that in task manager my cpu usage is at %100 and I have quite High temps, my cpu cooler goes crazy, and if i minimize to desktop everything is really slow. The game doesn't use much gpu power. Anyone now a fix?

my friend with an i5 4690k and gtx 970 sais he runs the game at 100 fps maxed out no msaa but if he turns on msaa to x8 he only loses 5 fps. he just doesn't have msaa on because he like the look of fxaa but i like msaa more

Admirable
GTX 970 is much superior to GTX 770 when it comes to MSAA since it have much higher Pixel Rate and can handle higher resolution and lvl of MSAA better.Your CPU should not hit 100% usage.I would go in BIOS and done Optimized settings reset.Since you have CPU that can OC why not get cheap aftermarket cooler and push it a bit higher.Cooler like Raijintek Themis will get you 4.2-4.3 Ghz OC with safe temps for any game.

I am not using the stock cooler, i am using a really good after market air cooler (gaamaxx 400) but I really dont see how he could that much more frames then I am without msaa
I have been working on some overclocking recently because i had had an interest in it. I tried over clocking to 4.2ghz and it ran really well in my heavily modded skyrim for awhile until I got that windows crash screen with the ":(" so i set it back because I did not want to up the voltage.
