When I connect the HD it gets detected.

But I'm not able to open it. It says

I tried formatting it by right click and by cmd prompt. Both dont work as it says Disk Part has encountered an error: the parameter is incorrect.
The warranty has finished so I can dissemble it also. Data recovery is not an issue as it had nothing important.
Please help..

Hey there, Spotsindude!

I hope @jashith123 has successfully resolved the issue with his/her WD drive or at least RMA-ed it, if the troubleshooting failed.

With you however, I think the problem lies in the fact that you've installed Windows on your primary (OS) drive without unplugging the secondary HDD. Thus you've encountered an OS confusion which makes Windows save important system files on both storage devices connected to the motherboard, which would most probably result in booting issues if you unplug the secondary drive.
What you'd need to do is re-install Windows on your primary HDD/SSD, but this time unplug the secondary WD drive until the installation is finished. Afterwards, connect the hard drive and re-format it through...

I am having the same problem, or at least close to the same problem. I believe the recovery portion of my windows 8 is stuck on my HDD or something. If anyone else can help me out that would be great.

Hopefully this will solve your issue! Let me know how it goes! :)
