Hello you guys, I am new to the pc gaming/master race and i am damn proud to say i am enjoying it so much!~ I haven't ran into any problems with the games i have purchased until Mortal Kombat X released. It lags out a little bit but after awhile it runs pretty well enough to actually perform combos and other things which was very surprising!!
but there are some stages where it is very laggy. when i use Fraps, it runs well below the 30's.
I was told overclocking should help with my FPS and I've been lurking and searching for about 4 days now but now i finally decide to come to you guys. I've tried overclocking to 3.9ghz or 4.0ghz with AMD Overdrive, Going through my motherboard bios but whenever i do, The performance is worse than before making it impossible to play unlike how it was at stock clock speed 3.8ghz.
So now i ask you, what is it that i am doing wrong? Is my build incapable of OC?

AMD Athlon X4 760K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor
MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
MSI Radeon R7 260X 2GB Video Card
Rosewill Line-M MicroATX Mini Tower Case
