CPU+GPU+Motherboard for gaming pc (1st build)

My 5 year old computer is getting slow for running new games, and now that ive been looking at the parts and their prices and i can say this is not something i would like to screw up. At the moment ive been looking at the GTX 970 or 980, H97 with i5-4690k but id like to see some other suggestions around the 1k€ mark. I think i can get the other parts by myself now that ive been looking up videos about pc building

I you're thinking to use the i5-4690K, get a Z97 chipset motherboard instead of a H97.

The K model CPUs are for OC and Intel CPUs can only be OCed on Z97 MoBos.

Out of that, i5 + GTX 970/980 is a good combo.

What resolution/monitor setup are you running or plan on running in the future? This can help with your buying choices.

970/980 are great for that resolution, though both can go higher in certain games high settings. i5 4690k is also a great choice for this combo.
