Ok need some help on lga 1150 socket motherboad support with xeon cpu's specifically the XEON e3 1230v3 & 1231v3 cpu's. These question's are from emailing my current motherboard's e-support (biostar) about any unofficial supporting of those cpu's as there not listed officially (i.e. try at your own risk motherboard will still boot with cpu's but not covered under warranty).
The reply I got stumped me "There is no official support XEON CPU’s. Intel does not provide XEON testing samples for desktop platform. Intel would prefer XEON cpu’s to be used on workstation/server type products since some of the XEON cpu functions do not work on desktop platform." It stumped me because I see support on a cheap motherboard MSI H81M-P33 according to msi's product page on cpu support list that's a $40 board
my motherboard is a biostar hi-fi z87x 3d I have not purchsed any of those cpu's I own a pentium g3258 and want to upgrade to 4 cores 8 threads and get's a passmark score anything over 8000 as it would be double my current score.
so how are some companies supporting XEON's?
why isn't other companies able to support XEON's?
have anyone that heard/have/had a biostar hi-fi z87x 3d around ever try tossing a XEON in it to see if it post's?
if so was it buggy could it handle games with out crashing?
now I'm not holding my breath on those last 2 question's if there not answered i'll just pick up an i7 but don't hurt to ask
