when buying a z97 mobo chipset is for overclocking so i7 4790k cpu would be better. But i noticed that you went for white theme of your build and it is going to look very tidy.

I would go down to 8gb of ram which is enough for gaming and add an ssd. Try samsung 840/850 evo 120gb for operating system and other programs/games.

but if you crank the ram to 8gb, then you might get a 40-60 dollar decrease, making the hof 970 (i use the hof 980 and its amazing, and i expect great performance off of a hof 970) a 40 to 60 dollar increase instead.

it's a nice looking board, it's moderately good for OC, but the feauture's are a bit barebones. However that shouldn't be enough to push you away from this mobo. Anyways, I've heard that this mobo has come DOA with the 3rd and 4th channel of RAM being defective, meaning you can't do dual channel ram. Also MSI has bad QC, so I would avoid them.

Another thing is, you can't go wrong with asus, so as long as you can afford the
asus sabertooth mark S , then go for that.

I love the nzxt s340 case, but as you may know, it doesn't have a optical drive, which makes installing windows a bit harder. if there is a white version of the corsair carbide 300r windowed, then get that.
