I had a 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 in the computer a friend had built for me. It just died on me and I was looking up new hard drives. If that hard drive worked well for my computer (and it did for nearly 5 years) would a Seagate 1TB Internal Serial ATA Hard Drive be a good replacement for it? Would it work with my computer and its other parts? (which are also ~5 years old)

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I am not very tech savvy. As I said my friend made this computer for me and I can't get into contact with him anymore

Solution
Yes it will as long as your old drive was the same interface. By that I mean there are two basic data interfaces for HDDs; SATA and the older PATA (sometimes called IDE).

The power cables for the drives are different as well. Those are the only thing you need to really be concerned about.
