My boyfriend just recently bought the parts to build a computer. He put it all together and we used a Windows 8 .iso on a usb to install windows. It worked, originally, he had it set up and running, until he turned it off. Now, turning it back on, we have windows auto repair stuck in a loop. We tried to reinstall the .iso. It would not recognise the drives and actually made one so hot it turned the tip black. Nothing I can program into the command prompt will fix it. We then turned to using a solid state drive to install the operating to so then we may wipe the old hard drive, which has been taken out of the system. Now, the computer boots straight to BIOS and will not boot to the disk (though it reads as there being one in there) and usb's will still not work. We also tried a recovery disk made from a Windows 8 computer, and that was also not recognised as being a valid bootable disk. What are we doing wrong? Is there anything we're missing and where do we go from here?
