Right now I am in the process of recovering from a hard drive failure but I have been looking at possible upgrades for my GPU. It's been a few year since I upgraded my GPU so I'm lost as far as what number system the company's are currently using. Mainly use the GPU mainly for gaming.

I have an HP Pavillon Magnesium Gray Edition (a couple years old).

CPU is a Phenom II x4 820
6GB ram

The upgrade I have made were basically a 750w Corsair PSU and I put in the HD 4870 from my last system.

I've looked at the charts and am still a bit lost on what to upgrade to in an affordable manner. Any advice would help thank You.

gtx 970 4gb is a great GPU, regardless of all the Vram madness, which u won`t utilize fully anyway. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121899&cm_re=gtx_970-_-14-121-899-_-Product, this is a great card, but depending on where u live, u might find it cheaper.
also trying finding a used gtx 770, their pretty cheap and u`ll find plenty around since alot are looking to upgrade to 9xx series.
