I need to get a CPU cooler that can fit well. The cooler needs to be able to fit within 5.4 inches from the CPU to the side of the case. My plan is to OC my FX8320 to around 4.3 GHz. I need one thats like a mini version of the Hyper 212 EVO

5.4 inches is just 138mm, and even some 90mm coolers are taller than that.

Unless, of course, you go horizontal instead of vertical from the cpu.

yeah that could be an option. I think I would prob get the H60 instead of that one.

Well, if you are planning on OC'ing the 8 core, you will need adequate cooling. Most low profile air coolers will not let you get very high OCs due to temps. With an air cooler, it is all about the size of the radiator/fan and the number/size of the heat pipes.

yeah true, I been looking around for a good small cpu fan cooler and haven't got much luck. I think that the H60 is the viable option. Have you done much overclocking on the H60?

Haha yeah, you weren't kidding. this thing is epic! Its a bit over my budget at the moment though

What case are we talking about.?
What motherboard?

Measure again.
5.4" is 138mm.
If you can handle 145mm (5.7)
The cryorig H7 is about as small as you can get with a 120mm fan.

Otherwise, you are looking at a downdraft cooler like the excellent noctua NH-L12 referenced above.
I am using one in a small case and it performs well and is very quiet.
Perhaps the only caveat is to insure that the case has adequate intake capability.

A lot. I had the one in my sig below also on my FX-8350 @ 4.6 GHz. I still had lots of temperature headroom left. What case will this be going into? As with all coolers, it is important that the heated air get exhausted from the case.

the case is some cheap sentey case lol. you can find it here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PWM49G2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It has 4 fans and look at the pics in the link for reference

This could work, it might be a tight squeeze though. keep in mind that there is also a side panel fan that takes up room in the case. re measured and it can maybe go up to 5.5

Currently running a h55 single fan, on an i5-3570K @4.2, 63° under prime95 small fft, goes up to 70° at 4.4. During heavy cpu games it'll not go past 53-55°.

Next year when the cpu warranty is done, I'll delid, and drop those temps as I currently have a full 10° difference in cores.

The c14 has sufficient draw that you'd not need the side panel fan, and with the top fan included runs 130mm.

Wow, narrow. Only 7". I see the problem. Also no top vents. Not a very good case for air flow. Easy to let heat get trapped at the top. Normally, Corsair recommends the fan be mounted as intake thru the radiator. But in your case, I'd have it blow thru the radiator and out the rear opening. Either that, or do it the recommended way and add a side fan to exhaust heated air out the case. Maybe a small low profile air cooler would be better after all. Or a new case.

ah yes, i heard that the h55 has great cooling. yeah i think that im gonna go with liquid cooling for this

Oh. States on that Web site that that case will support cpu coolers upto 150mm, so if you intend on keeping the side fans, (25mm) you are looking at coolers with a height of 124mm or less. Personally I'm not a big fan of side fans, no pun intended, as they have a strong tendency to disrupt good airflow through the case, requiring more effort on the part of the intakes and exhaust just to overcome the circulatory pattern established by the side fan cross winds. Exhaust isn't bad if you have a large, hot gpu like a 290/290x.

yeah thats what i thought exactly, i been chatting with everyone else on here and i think that getting something like a h60 liquid cooler would be best

The h55 performs almost identically to the h60, but the h60 has a slightly higher OC ability, temp for temp.

The h55 also has a 3pin analog fan, so unless your mobo supports that, you'll not be able to control cpu fan speeds.

The new h-60 is an improvement over the prior h60 in many ways, including the ability for cpu fan control via Corsair link software. So if you go that route, make sure it's a new h60 (Dec 2012+) with white fan, not the older h60 with the black fan.

yeah i see your point, i may need to just get rid of the side fan. The gpu is an r9 280

Be sure to connect the H60's rad fan to the CPU FAN header so it is controlled like a normal cooler fan would be. The pump, on the other hand, needs to be connected to any header that can be run at full speed all the time. You don't want to run the pump at variable speed. It can burn up.
But the system is very quiet. I hardly hear mine and it is sitting on a work table right next to me.

The H60s have Corsair link now? You'll have to link me to where you saw that.
