My A10 5800k wont overclock past 4.1 and im using Amd Overdrive. when I go up to 4.2 and do a stability test I get hardware error and Illegal Sumout. I turned the voltage up quite a bit but not sure if it is needed to be higher. Also I have a Hyper 212 Evo so temps aren't a problem

Solution
First of all scrap using amd overdrive it causes lag issues and use the bios. I have an A8-5600k @ 5Ghz 1.5V
you have to go into the overclocking tab and click the adjust cpu ratio and manually type the number i would start with 4.1 so type 41 and press enter ignore if it goes red or yellow. Then click CPU Base Frequency and type 100 and hit enter. then go into the mainboard settings tab save and reboot if it boots check speed with cpu-z and run a quick test to check temps then repeat going up in intervals of 1 till it your happy or you can't go anymore once you get one thats stable you will need to stress test it for a longer period. Bios will take care of voltage can't alter it manually using this motherboard least i can't find it...

My CPU gets up to 53 degrees on full load at 5Ghz.

Your CPU might not be able to get past 4.1 also make sure your temps aren't too high should be good tho depends on cooler

Have you tried the OC genie in bios?

Well, the bad news is that your motherboard is not exactly built for overclocking. It looks like it has a 4+2 phase design, which isn't bad, but the mosfets lack any heatsinks - so they may be overheating. You can install some aftermarket heatsinks on your mosfets, if you want, but it will cost money. Enzotech provides such solutions.

Also, software overclocking, as opposed to overclocking via the BIOS, can lead to some instabilities.

That's weird because I usually have bad luck with this stuff but I managed 4.5. It starts becoming unstable for me any higher. The voltage seems to also be automatic and mine is usually at 1.53 v.
