CPU getting very hot...

So when my pc is idle, the CPU is at about 30-35C but when I turn on a game, lets say GTA 5, it shoots up to 50-56C. Is this too hot for the CPU? I am using a stock cooler and I have no money right now to buy any type of aftermarket cooling. Should I be worried or should I just go ahead and play? I have even put a large fan by my pc, opened the case, and let the fan blow into the pc... It's not working very well. Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

Oh and my current CPU is an AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor

Umm.. So I was using a program called SpeedFan 4.50 and It shows 31C right now. I downloaded 5 other different programs that check temp and they all show that the cpu is around 10-20C... Really weird. Do you know any thermometers that show the correct temp?

There are many different sensors that measure different things. Knowing what you are reading is as important as that the number is. Some measure cores, some measure socket, some measure "package", some measure all. I use HWiNFO which measures everything and makes the others redundant.

For future reference 10degC is far below room temperature. Your CPU must be at least a few degrees above room temp. So in the 30degC range in idle is perfectly normal.

Also, modern CPU's will crash your computer before they would damage it or just THROTTLE the frequency.

The CPU is at 10-20C idle and 30-36C playing games... Is it bad for the cpu to be at 10C? What will happen to it? I don't really know how I could make it hotter while idle...

It's not a problem, however it's extremely UNLIKELY that your CPU drops to 10degC. Your room temperature would have to be somewhere around 5degC for this to happen since the CPU is always hotter than room temp.

So unless you're sitting there wearing a winter coat I think your software is misreporting the temperature.

I'd trust the 30-35degC idle temp you mentioned first.

I used the program "Core Temp" and it worked fine for me.

*The temps you want are the individual core temps. I'm guessing there would be SIX reported. Some motherboards also have a sensor next to the CPU and some CPU's have an additional sensor on the circuit board. None should be below room temp though.

To have this kind of room temperature, you'd have to have an ambient temperature of 40-45F .... that's like "wear a coat" weather. Is your room really just 10 degrees or so above freezing ? If not, 10C is obviously an erroneous reading.
