i have been trying to overclock my cpu and it seems to just crash no matter how little a multiplier increase i give it and no matter how many many more volts i give to the cpu (i havent overdone the volts while doing this been keeping safe). I have heard this board is pretty bad for overclocking but is it this bad that you just cant oc at all no matter what ?
I have turned off all the things that you would normally turn off in the bios as well like c1e& cool and quiet, this board was also throttling so i found a beta bios update that fixes it so you can disable apm so that is disabled as well.
Another thing i have noticed is that before i did any of this i had turbo clock on and that is meant to goto 4.1 however it only ever got to 3.8 max no matter how much load it had, i dont know what voltages it was giving the cpu but no matter what it never clocked to the setting it was meant to so for that reason i wanted it to be a solid 4.0GHz at least however i havent been having any luck so far.
One last thing i checked my tempuratures this whoel time too make sure getting hot wasnt the issue and things are no where near the danger zone, i currently have the cpu voltage set to 1.28v and the standard is 1.2v i believe.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

my specs are as follows:

dont quote me on if this is right but i believe bus speed is 200
and both HT and NB are at 2000
so how should i go about tweaking this ?

im just not sure what you mean by play with i havent touched these settigns before so i dont know how much i should be increasing them by before each test and wether i need to apply nb voltage as well then or extra ram voltage stuff like that ? on that subject my ram isnt the best so would increasing this possibley fail entirely because the ram cant take it ?

you should be increasing them by 5's or by 10's before each test. i recommend testing with Prime95. if any worker fails, then your overclock is not stable.

i personally dont recommend overclocking the ram. if you only overclock your CPU then your ram should be fine.

okay ill give it a go and get back to you and its just from what i read about overclocking this way it affects your whole system including the ram, i guess i remembered wrong ?
