Windows 8 wont let me open regedit.exe?

I've done all sorts I tried to enable and disable and not configure it in gpedit.msc still didn't work, tried to disable it in cmd still doesn't work. You can search for it when you open it nothing happens it's just like clicking an empty icon and waiting for something to happen and nothing happens :( I tried everything you can think of I even backedup my regedit and recreated a fresh one.
Last thing I remember I did that could of * it up is I changed a folders permission because I was getting errors when I tried to paste something inside so I went on folder properties I changed the security to myself the user full control I think it's to do with that, but I deleted that folder now but still have that issue.

Problem is I reinstalled window 3 and it worked but when I started downloading, chrome AMD drive, netframe, direct x and installing gta 5, that's when it happened.
When I go to directory where it's stored I noticed I'm not able to double click it anymore when I right click and open nothing happens.

I made a backup and did a system restore, and before that I did a revert or whatever you call it where window deletes all your files and restores everything back to clean install.
That seemed to work after the system restore I got to keep GTA 5 + get my reg to work.

I had the same problem as OP. I also couldn't open regedit, or CCleaner for that matter, so I ran malwarebytes and it gave the results shown in the image provided. So yeah, if anyone is having problems with regedit.exe or CCleaner, they should run malwarebytes as it is some type of Trojan that is preventing you form using these programs.

Guys

i have the same problem. But i haven't installed gta v or anything, so that's separate. This 'virus' that i have also autoruns chrome when i start my laptop, and opens the page gameplayinfo.org.

I can't open ccleaner, i can install it but not open, nothing happens. I can't run regedit. I double click, but nothing happens, even with run as admin. I need help! This virus doesn't allow you to open such programs as they will fix the issue, i believe. Someone help please!! is there some safe mode you can start your computer that will fix the issue??
