GTX 960 4GB vs R9 280X Matrix Platinum

Hello I own a Matrix Platinum.Should I change it for a GTX 960 4GB?A friend of mine offers me his 960.

I have 750w EVGA Supernova & i5 4670k.

How much are you getting that 960 for?

Edit= Oh you already own a 280x. Trading for a 960 will decrease fps. The 280x is the better card of the two for gaming.

Actually the Matrix platinum is quite silent.

Keep what you got. 3GB is plenty for your needs at 1080p. Why is he wanting to trade? Seems weird unless its dad's money.

280x... surprisingly, the 960 GTX is not an interesting product at all. It is not the like the 760 GTX that was the surprise of the 700 lineup.

The GTX 960 is very underrated. It's actually a very good graphics card no matter how you look at it. Beats the GTX 760 all hands up and that's what It's built for aswell.

Not better than the R9 280X though.

Well my card's fan works at half rpm than the card's temperature (example 50 degrees = 20-25% fan load) it's pretty quiet.I've set fan manually above 50% and it's pretty noisy though but all silent fans I got in my case don't let the card go above 40% even in heavy load

.Idle 27 degrees & 10% fan spinning lol

The moral of the story is your R9 280X is a more powerful card than any GTX 960.

Lol my card's fan hasn't gone above 50% evcen in funmark it reached 44%...All AMD cards are louder than Nvidia because they run hotter..But most gamers wear headstets right?So I don't bother about noise.

I prefer watching it's 'Matrix' logo lighting up blue/purple and have a few noise rather than having a plain case xD
