seems to be driver related but not sure because it does it after reinstalling driver from asrock site and etron site

Solution
heres what this guy said -- as you can see in the thread 3ed party usb3 can be a pain on amd boards it was a joke on my old sabertooth and it used asmeida chip

good luck

SOLUTION!!!

Open up Device Manager

Right click the device (the one with an exclamation mark)

Select "Uninstall", and check the option to also remove the driver in the process

Reboot

Wait for windows to scan the devices

Extract the Latest Drivers folder on the desktop

Install a fresh copy of the driver by Right Clicking and Browsing towards the Drivers folder ( DO NOT USE THE SETUP.EXE to install)

If it still show the item with an exclamation still RIGHT click and update drivers using internet.

DONE.

Hope it works for you too...

Thank you i will try this and see what happens. I was also wondering if i could use a pci usb 3.0 and avoid the etron onboard totally

don't know, but it seems just one of those things with them 3ed party usb3 . like I said with my asus sabertooth I could get then in but it caused stability issues and like in that link I gave my buddies sons asrock 990fx exe9 he fought them in but I don't know if he got it going or not or gave up as well ? I just ended up letting windows pick them up as usb2 and moved on and they work fine at usb2 speed

all you could do is get the pci card and try it and see I never used one ??? for me usb3 is not that critical and good old usb2 does all I need [opinion]

Not that impressed with 3.0 either but my case has only 3.0 ports if it would work as 2.0 instead i would not worry about it but it stops completely

heres what this guy had to say

''Was getting BSODs with USB 3.0 host controller; tried to download version 0.118 from etron.com (under USB3.0 Host Controllers -> Driver Download), but problem persists. WORKAROUND: Uninstall Etron USB 3.0 drivers (I had to disable USB 3.0 controller on the motherboard to uninstall; otherwise, the uninstall process kept causing a BSOD). The built-in Microsoft drivers (in Windows 8.1; not sure if suitable drivers are included in earlier Windows versions) seem to be stable.

ya , like I said I had a asus 990fx with the asmeida usb3, and it was to the best I could figure out crap ...

looks like amds solution for usb3 on them boards is it works or it don't best I can see from it I been googling it around but really found much of nothing as far as added help for you on this ... sorry

''case has only 3.0 ports if it would work as 2.0 instead ''

that did not work and it wont let when i right click to install diver it says windows has determined that driver software is up to date and when i install with exe file i get this in device manager This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)

with out my having to download the boards manual is there a setting in the bios to activate the usb3 ???
it maybe disabled in the bios and that's why its not being detected ??

I was looking at newegg reviews and theres a few with the usb 3 complaints starting on page 4

I just don't see a magic bullet fix anywhere or a good resolve post

found this ???

Okay I got it figured out. I had to "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" under the advanced boot options in order to install the Etron USB 3.0 host controller driver. The question now is, why on earth would Asrock allow an un-digitally signed driver to be used as the excepted drivers on the motherboard CD or at their website? Anyway, all is well now.

Asrock fatality 990fx does not have that option in boot menu. It works at first when started then windows takes over then it stops. I am going to google how to stop it

Well i disabled the driver signature enforcement and its still not working even when i have the drivers uninstalled windows says drivers are up to date. and when i disabled the device and uninstalled driver first solution windows says device is not present so i am now at a loss hopefully someone will respond with a solution

well like my old asus 990fx sabertooth it never worked on it as well, and with older amd like AM3+ don't support usb3 native and board manufactures have to rely on them 3ed party solutions and drivers to support it -- it not just a asrock thing. thats with any brand .

heck it may be just a bad usb3 chip on the board ?? maybe a rma ??
