I recently finished building a new computer, after I gathered the parts, my motherboard (MSI A78M-E35) needs a bios update to support my cpu (Athlon 860k). This board is fully compatible with the cpu and I am not sure how to correctly install a bios update, I don't want to go spend $30 at a repair shop for them to just shove another cpu in there and get easy money. I prefer a usb method as I don't have a cd-drive,my usb is an hp one, any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

Motherboards will come with the latest bios levels.
Try your cpu and see if it boots into bios.
If it does, you can check the bios level and decide if you really need a update.
Most often a bios update is for minor incompatibilities and should not be done unless it fixes a problem impacting you.
Do not update a bios on speculation. A failed bios update can permanently brick your motherboard.

If you can't boot, then the best thing to do is to take it to a shop where they will use a cpu that was supported at motherboard launch and do the update.
Some newer motherboards have a bios update capability that does not need to have a cpu or ram installed. I doubt that yours is one.

My monitor displays no signal, and everything else seems to be working fine though. Is there a way without taking it into a shop? As I have already spent too much money on this build, if I have to, do they charge alot? Thanks in advance!
